HARPER LEE: A PANEL DISCUSSION
with HADLEY FREEMAN, PHILIPPE SANDS, LOUISA YOUNG
& ISABEL ADOMAKOH YOUNG
The discovery of Harper Lee’s early work, Go Set a Watchman is perhaps the most significant literary event of the decade. The book itself is heavily embargoed until July 14 so L&R is marking publication day with a panel discussion about To Kill a Mockingbird, the iconic novel which has been for so many readers a first foray into grown-up fiction.
Our panel includes an American journalist who grew up with the book as a key text, a human rights lawyer, a best-selling novelist and an undergraduate whose first reading of the book is still a fresh experience.
Hadley Freeman is a columnist and staff writer for The Guardian. She is the author of three books, most recently Life Moves Pretty Fast.
Philippe Sands QC is a barrister at Matrix Chambers, professor of law at University College London, and author of a number of books.
Louisa Young is the best-selling, prize-winning author of twelve books; her most recent is The Heroes Return.
Isabel Adomakoh Young, Louisa’s daughter, co-wrote with her the best-selling Lionboy trilogy for children.
