Shortlisted Best Lead Actress BBTA Awards 2021
The Black British Theatre Awards 2021 have been announced and I’ve been nominated!
I’m so proud to be amongst an incredible celebration of black performers and creatives in UK theatre.
Congratulations and good luck to all the amazing nominees! Fingers crossed for November 21st
“The BBTAs were created to target the fantastic talent and leadership within the UK theatre sector, celebrating the diverse talent which is already established, as well as championing black theatre pioneers whose contributions are unmissable and visionary. This, along with supporting and inspiring young black talent from the educational system into the arts will make an impact to empower, tell their stories and in turn, continue the movement for black talent to be seen.
With so many shows being streamed and/or performed live, there has been a plethora of innovative and ground-breaking theatre which has had audiences at home or in a theatre on their feet. The BBTAs plan is to highlight even more black talent on and off stage during this time of national cultural recovery. Featuring black talent is more important than ever to ensure that the return to theatre is diverse. This year’s nominees are in abundance of talent,
showcasing the full range of abilities across the cultural sector on and off stage.”
