I won a BBTA Award!

Unbelievably proud and honoured to say I’ve been awarded Best Lead Actress! What an incredible moment, I am just so thrilled. I couldn’t be at the ceremony - in fact I was in Ireland getting ready for an early night ahead of filming when I found out - but our 3 other Romeo & Juliet nominees (all of whom also won!) collected it for me.

This is proof that Shakespeare can be for everyone by everyone. Big respect to the BBTAs for boosting black talent every year! It’s crazy to be on that list along with so much shining black talent, let alone my fellow Lead Actress nominees.

The show wouldn’t have been what it was without Kim Sykes our brilliant director, Joel MacCormack my perfect Romeo and the stellar company. Just so proud and happy
