New role in Hamlet, Bristol Old Vic
I’m very excited to have been cast as Horatio in the new production of Hamlet at Bristol Old Vic. This feels very full circle because the stage show of my Lionboy books started its tour there, almost 10 years ago! I’ve wanted to perform there ever since.
The show runs Oct 13-November 12th with live broadcasts on November 10 & 11th
‘Must I remember?'
Hamlet's father is dead. His mother has remarried. He is alone with his thoughts. Then, he speaks.
Haunted by grief, and with his world spinning violently out of control, Hamlet has to make some decisions: forget or remember; live or die.
Rising star Billy Howle (The Serpent; MotherFatherSon; On Chesil Beach) returns to Bristol Old Vic to play the title role.
This visceral new production directed by John Haidar (Richard III) excavates the dark subconscious of Shakespeare's greatest tragedy.
Joining the previously announced Billy Howle (The Serpent) in the title role will be Niamh Cusack (The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time) as Gertrude, Mirren Mack (Sex Education) as Ophelia, Finbar Lynch (Faith Healer) as Claudius, Taheen Modak (The Bay) as Laertes and Rosencrantz, Isabel Adomakoh Young (Heartstopper) as Horatio, Firdous Bamji (A Disappearing Number) as Ghost, Player King and Gravedigger, Jason Barnett (Instructions for Correct Assembly) as Polonius and Catrin Stewart (Stella) as Guildenstern/Reynaldo/Player Queen.
The creative team is also set to feature Alex Eales (set designer), Natalie Pryce (costume designer), Malcolm Rippeth (lighting designer), Max Pappenheim (music/sound), Jack Phelan (video design), Lucy Cullingford (movement director), Sam Stevenson (casting director), Bret Yount (fight director), Zoe Hammond (costume supervisor) and Elinor Lower (assistant director).
