Guest Artistic Director at the Kings Head Theatre
The Takeover: From March - August 2023, the Kings Head Theatre will welcome four guest Artistic Directors, drawn from different theatre backgrounds, to take over and curate their own seasons at the iconic Islington pub venue. Each will have full creative control over curating the programme, supported by the staff at the King's Head Theatre, with planned seasons ranging from arts and activism, new musical theatre to the best in drag and cabaret.
My season, SIGHT UNSEEN, runs from March 27th to April 15
The guest Artistic Directors - Isabel Adomakoh Young, Tom Ratcliffe, Tania Azevedo and David Cumming - are all mid-career LGBTQ+ identifying artists from various disciplines.
We will also be matched with an industry mentor and receive training on practical aspects of programming, different approaches to artistic direction and curation and developing artists.
Established in 1970, King’s Head Theatre is one of the oldest pub theatres in London. For over 50 years the theatre has been housed in the back room of the King’s Head Pub on Upper Street in an old boxing ring and pool hall.
“We believe in trying to find sustainable solutions to making work on the fringe, & we were the first fringe venue to develop a fringe house agreement with Equity which makes a commitment to paying all our performers & stage managers ethically. Our theatre has, and always will be, a place for new talent, on & off-stage. The future of the fringe is here.”
